La Paz already has laws proposed by citizens through the Citizens Legislative Initiative (ILC)

Four Laws and two Municipal Ordinances submitted through this procedure have already been enacted.

In the last three years, various sectors of the community have submitted to the Municipal Council of La Paz 19 proposals for municipal regulations, of which six have already been approved after a joint analysis among municipal legislators, planners and representatives of the bodies concerned. in the different initiatives.

The Municipal Autonomous Law No. 25 of Participation and Social Control contemplates, among others, the Citizens Legislative Initiative (ILC), as a mechanism for the direct participation of citizens in local public management. Through this participative tool, any citizen or organization has the possibility of proposing municipal laws or ordinances on municipal attribution issues.

The people or organizations interested in contributing to the municipality exercising their right to participation and co-responsibility, depending on their demands, needs and aspirations, can do so through the presentation of proposals for regulations on issues of municipal competence, presenting the same in the Presidency of the Municipal Council.
