We are pleased to announce that pre-registration for our 23rd IOPD Conference is now open.
Under the theme "Populist threats: building democratic resilience with participatory communities", the encounter will take place from 17 to 19 October in Valongo, Porto metropolitan area, Portugal, in venues located near the headquarters of the Câmara Municipal.
The IOPD Valongo 2024 Conference will explore 5 main thematic areas related to the promotion of participatory democracy:
The opening session will feature the Mayor of Valongo, José Manuel Ribeiro, Emilia Saiz, Secretary General of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), and Cas Mudde, one of the most renowned experts on extremism and democracy.
