The Technical Secretariat of the IOPD and the City of Valongo invite its membership and any city, organisation, collective or person interested in local democracy and municipalism to submit their proposals for sessions or interventions by 2 June.
The 2024 IOPD Conference will be organised in the City of Valongo, Portugal, from 17 to 19 October with the leadership of the Câmara Municipal de Valongo under the theme "Populist Threats: Building Democratic Resilience with Participatory Communities." The aim of this edition of the global meeting of local and regional leaders of participatory democracy is to identify mechanisms to better defend communities from authoritarian drifts based on disinformation, typical of some populist phenomena.
With the aim of promoting a global space for exchange and enriching the agenda of the 2024 Conference, the IOPD, together with the Câmara Municipal de Valongo, invite its membership and any city, organisation, collective or person interested in local democracy and municipalism to submit their proposals for sessions or interventions by 2 June.
