into how established democracies adapt to new challenges and transform in that
process. Institutional innovations in citizen participation, new forms of
political behavior and public deliberation, and the effects of digital
technologies in reaching out to the public will be addressed in five one-day
sessions:
• New Forms of Citizen
Participation in Established Democracies
• Deliberative Democracy
• E-Democracy: Digital Channels
of Participation
• Political Consumerism: A New
