Description

Participatory Budgeting SMS is part of a governance initiative of the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme. It was considered a "best practice" for a more effective and open government. It involves using Internet communication technologies (ICT) for greater commitment and greater citizen participation. So the goal is to increase civil society and involve citizens to improve governance by making it transparent and accountable government. This project proposes to use SMS as a communication tool by citizens to get involved and participate in decision making on the municipal budget.
