The Festival took place from 6 to 9 July 2017
The Italian town of L'Aquila organized the Festival of Participation for another year. The IOPD that supported the organization of this event was represented by its Secretary General Fernando Pindado who participated in a Pan European networking event on the role play by local governments to foster participation.
The speakers were: Flavia Marzano councilor of Rome, Anthony Daguet deputy-mayor of Aubervilliers (France), Simona Bonfante councilor of Milan, Fernando Pindado from Barcelona City Council, Lilian Santana from Plaine Commune (France), Coline Berthaud from Paris City Council, Nelson Dias from the Network of participatory municipalities of Portugal, Edoardo Maturo of ActionAid and Giovanni Allegretti from Empatia.
