2020 International Women's Day

Local governments and civil society key to achieving women's equality

Description

As a network of local and regional governments, and civil society organizations committed in the promotion of participatory democracy, the IOPD is actively engaged in the fight for women's rights. The IOPD and its members have made gender issues a priority for 2020 action plan.

As part of the 64th session of the Committee on the Status of Women (CSW64) celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration, the IOPD joins the actions organized throughout the week by the organization United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG).

On this occasion, UCLG has drawn up a declaration through which mayors, representatives of local and regional governments, and representatives of associations reiterate their commitment in the implementation and promotion of action priorities for a fair, equal and safe society for all.
